Protect Your Oral Health with Biannual Dental Checkups

A patient undergoing a dental checkup. Maintaining your biannual dental checkups at our Hopewell Junction, NY, practice can help our team detect and treat oral health issues in their earliest stages. During your dental checkup at Quality Dental Care, our hygienist will administer a professional cleaning, followed by an oral exam with x-rays. Even if you practice good oral health care by brushing and flossing daily, it is still important to see a healthcare professional every six months for preventive care. Cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer in their earliest stages are undetectable to the untrained eye. Regularly seeing Dr. Ennabi can help allow oral health issues to be addressed while still manageable and reversible.

Your Dental Checkup: What to Expect

Prior to the dentist’s exam, our hygienist will take x-rays. Typically, under most dental insurance plans, you will have x-rays taken at every other appointment (once each year). You will also undergo a professional strength cleaning to remove plaque and tartar buildup along the surface of the teeth and gum line. If any signs of gum disease are detected, a deep cleaning may need to be administered. This procedure is also known as scaling and root planing, and it helps remove bacteria buildup below the gum line.

By visiting Quality Dental Care biannually, we will be able to track and document your oral health.

Once your teeth have been thoroughly cleaned, our hygienist will polish your teeth with a special, abrasive toothpaste to remove minor stains. In cases where you have weakened enamel or are prone to cavities, we will recommend a fluoride treatment to help strengthen your teeth. After your cleaning and polishing, the dentist will review your x-rays and perform a comprehensive examination. This will involve video diagnostic screening to check your teeth, bite, tongue, cheeks, and lips for early signs and symptoms of cavities and other serious oral diseases. If any issues are detected, we will present the cosmetic and restorative treatment options available to you.

Preventive Care and Family Dentistry

Seeing the same dentist year after year also makes it a one-stop-shop for the entire family.
